NSSA Junior Championship

Hawaii schools take top honors at the National NSSA championship! The elite high school team has done it again for the second year in a row.

Better known as E2A the students charged and pulled it out" Here it is, our second year and we ,we won it twice! now that's exciting! E2A coach Tony Moniz said. "But we have a dream team this year! All of our kids took care of business this year"  E2A surfers took three top places for varsity division Keanu Asing took first, Kiron Jabour was second, Kiamana Jaquias placed third.

Keanu Asing won a world junior championship earlier this year.  "These kids are surfing a different game, the caliper of which they are surfing is phenomenal. Keanu was on fire,he killed it!

Asing won the heat with a two-wave score of 17.25followed by Jabour's 14.5 and Jaquias 11.50.


Now to the girls most valuable player Kelia Moniz , her second year taking the top spot in this competition. Kelia score was two wave 16.0 followed by Kaleigh Gilcrest of Newport calif. with a 12.5.


In the finals.. Lua won the division for surfer age 13-15, he has been surfing ever since he was 9. Lua stated" This is my first win at the Nationals ,I am stoked"! according to report Lua made a bet with his father of shaving his head until he won, well get ready to see him with hair! It's been six years!

Ian Gentil of Maui and Kiron Jabor of Sunset each won Two titles! Hawaii kids rocked the house! Gental received two perfect 10's from the judges.


In the Girls divisions Malia Manuel of Kaua'i won the explorer women's, and placed third in the open women's. Alessa Quizon of Makaha won the explorer girls division.


Alex Smith of Kaua'i made three finals , placing in the men's air show and third in the open men's.
